Anthropologie London

Aren't we lucky? Our shop is sooo close to Anthropologie! We've skipped there three times already.Twice on a private view and again today. And we even get discount as we know someone who works there.

I have made a BIG list already.Even my 8 year old son wants to spend his pocket money (When he's 10 probably,as it ain't cheap)!
Our friend works there,so we are really in the know about it.We just think they need our knitted cakes now.
Come and show us your Anthropologie wares.

Rude not to visit us if you are sooo close.

No regrets

A very nice lady told us about regretsy, who's strap is 'We’re always on the lookout for the cream of the crappy hand crafts'.Says it all, doesn't it?You get the idea, have a look at www.regretsy.com

Of course, here at All the Fun of the Fair none of our things would ever make it to that site,oh no.Latest deliveries and makes include Fyberscates Scrumptious DK 100g skeins,Silver ring bases, cupcake tape measures, hand made bird brooches by our lovely new girl Melodie, plus our own twist on that popular phrase 'keep calm and carry on' with a lovely knitted teacosy.Have a look at our website www.allthefunofthefair.biz for pictures and info.Plus take a peak at special offers on Noro for October.

We are neither calm or chaotic at the moment, just sorting out new products and getting ready for our big fair Country Living Christmas Fair in Islington,London next month. We have a few freebie tickets if anyone would like to get in touch for one.We will be launching over 20 new products at the fair,so watch this space! The fair runs 9th November til 15th November and is full of yummy, yummy things.Visit us at stand J25 and the website at www.countrylivingfair.com.

Bows,buttons,bells and bodies

We are fast getting overrun with all the above!Bit by bit our autumn/winter season is kicking off with deliveries of new products.including some lovely new mini cupcake buttons, tiny autumn leaves buttons and red apple buttons. And bows and bells have been added to our haberdashery shelves. Now to the bodies!Well they are only about 20cm long and made of muslin,so nothing sinister going on here.We just fell in love with these plain bunnies and dolls just looking to be adorned, knitted for, or,at least going to a good home, from just £2!

Cleaning,Clearance and Cake Sales

We are doing all three over the next few months. We are starting with a cake sale, reducing some of our lovely cakes to just £3. Not to be overlooked our craft section-along with some yarns and other goodies-is having a good clear out, and we are firmly in sale mode in the shop. The cleaning bit will take place when we have really cleared some stock out and packed up for a nice little makeover in the shop later in the summer (details to follow). Now, come along to the shop and help us minimize the packing!

The Camel, the Yak and the Boss

All are coming our way soon. Well, to be more specific we are getting some camel and yak yarn ordered for the autumn, and our Boss has returned part-time to work.We are excited about all three things. The Camel in question is the new yarn from Debbie Bliss, 'Fez' and the yak is what is says on the tin,100% yak. The Boss needs no explanation. We will be sending out a newsletter with more specific details of the yarn and other new goodies.

It always feels odd ordering now for the autumn and guessing on yarns, amounts, colours and trends. But we are anyone's for a bit of Noro, who's newest yarn 'Yuzen' will also be winging its way to us,too. Then we have a sprinkling of new shades and new yarns from the usual suspects, plus some other treats.

We are not saying that the Boss is anything like the camel or the yak.

Christmas in May

Now, we know all monthly magazines have sorted out all their Christmas issues and lots of shops are doing their Christmas buying and makers have started doing their Christmas making, but we are firmly taking our time in what we are doing here for Christmas. Not that we haven't been asked by posh stores what we are making for them for Christmas.

So,just in case we completely mess up our Christmas buying and making, can we just say what is wrong with our lovely 2008 collection of knitted gingerbread men,Christmas pudding teacosies and the odd knitted robin.

Christmas is at the wrong time isn't it?No sooner are the summer holidays over then it is straight into October and the gloom that those dark days bring. Then with half-term sneaks up and hey presto its full on Christmas. Not that we are moaning but our owner,Buzz, is so THE busiest person at Christmas that she sort of,er, goes on about it a bit.Her old man is a vicar, her children choristers and she runs a shop.On Christmas day she has to be in 4 different places at the same time (3 churches and inventing Christmas magic at home). If you think you are busier than Buzz at Christmas-let us know. She is getting a bit smug.

Actually on the subject of Christmas and knitting, what is it about the colour RED that you can't find a good one in a ball of yarn? You can keep your neon red, your blood red, your cherry red-please can someone tell us a yarn that is red and proper Christmas red. When we know we will start knitting for Christmas......

Good Behaviour

Well we survived Grazia night without any mishaps and any drink spills, though it was quieter than previous years.

Thanks to those fabulous knitters who helped maintain the calm of our shop, hope you are all enjoying your purchases, especially with the 20% off.

Now that's over, some real work starts. We have lots of work to do and things to sort. It is amazing how such a small shop gets so messy. Normally Buzz is the culprit but she is not even here.

Thanks to all those designer makers who have been in touch about us selling their wares. We always love stocking new things, especially those that are handmade. If you make anything that you think we might like, please get in touch.

Grazia Fever

We are getting ready for Kingly Court's big night tomorrow when Grazia and squilllions of its readers head to the courtyard and Carnaby in general for the summer version of Grazia night(also held in November). Most stores, including us, give 20% off for the evening. There are lots of freebie drinks and bits and bobs, plus some entertainment. It is all v good fun, except we do get a bit shirty towards the end of the evening when there are a few drunken boyfriends -who have got drunk because girlfriend has done some proper shopping-who think knitted cakes, cacti and cosies are hilarious and we are not to be mocked for our quirkiness,no thanks.

Actually there are a few courtyard shops who don't even stay open let alone give 20% discount so we are not that shirty.

So not to put a downer on the evening and to show that we are not feisty about it (yet),sign up at www.carnaby.co.uk for your voucher.

Can't Knit-Won't Knit?

Join us,this, our first post on the blog where we hope to keep you update on all things going on at All the Fun of the Fair.

Unfortunately we are not very full of the joys of spring. Our owner,Buzz, is off sick and has been so for nearly 2 months. She suffered a mini-stroke,and although recovering well now is not well enough to return to work quite yet. She is frustrated and bored BIG TIME and can't even knit. So we are touting for ideas of what she should do to USEFULLY spend her time at home in between ferocious physio sessions and Frank Spenceresque trips out in the wheelchair being pushed by im indoors.Any creative ideas and cheery messages will not go unnoticed.

One cheery message that we can impart is that next week on Thursday 14th Grazia magazine have a shopping evening here at Kingly Court and most shops, including us will be offering a whopping 20% off. You need to sign up for the festivities at www.carnaby.couk
